Earlier this week, Alicia Steele and The Endeavors released a project called “Foreplay Sessions”. This project was originally going to be an EP but due to complications, things have been changed. Answering every aspiring deejay’s prayers, Alicia & crew will be releasing this project in bits & pieces (see below). A couple recordings were saved so those will be released – along with a couple live recordings from their Dakota show – and included in the Sessions (previews of those songs below). Check what Alicia had to say on the subject:
The story goes…
Months and months ago we recorded some music, expecting to be a part of a project. Long story, it fell through. We ended up not using the recordings, feel free to ask Alicia why, so we decided to release the tracks along with a few live performances.
The stems from those sessions are available for you to make something beautiful, something unrecognizable and creative.
Build.

Lemme guess, you haven’t made plans for Valentines Day yet; you’re busy so you’re going to wait until the day of to go out and grab some wilted petals and low-fat candies for your lady. My friend, please listen to me when I tell you, she deserves better than that. You know what she deserves? A bottle of wine, a nice dinner, and a dimly-lit room filled with the sweet sounds of jazz. And we can give that to you!
This Valentines Day, Alicia Steele and The Endeavors will be gracing the basement of Honey with a night full of jazzed melodies. The night will feature a few different aspects, beginning with a DJ set from Noam the Drummer (Turnt Up!), spinning the illest r&b and hip-hop. Completing the artistic environment will be some live painting from Ron Brown as well as free tarot card readings. Finally, to end the night will be a full-length set from Alicia and her band, the Endeavors.
Remember above when I mentioned that we got you covered? Well, I wasn’t lying. For only $39, you and your significant other will be able to enjoy two entrees, a bottle of wine, and dessert. If you aren’t hungry but in search of an elixir, do not fret; $4 rails and taps will be available throughout the show.
If you have an undercover lover and would like to keep the lovin’ on the down-low, we understand. Hosted right here on the CrowdNoize TC website, we will be streaming the whole show live! Basically, you have no excuse not to enjoy this show in one way or another. Happy Valentines Day!

[WHAT]
Big Zach, the host of this event, recently released a book called “Headspin, Headshots & History: Growing Up In Twin Cities Hip Hop”. One of the last chapters in this book ties together his relationships with two of the most promising rap acts in the Twin Cities scene, Prof and Duenday. To build off of that connection, Augsburg has decided to bring in both acts… AND Macklemore. Needless to say, this night will be one for the books (pun intended).
Unfortunately, you have to be an Augsburg student (or the guest of) to attend this event. FORTUNATELY, No Static has your back. Re-post this event to your Facebook profile page, tag No Static’s facebook page (facebook.com/nostaticrecords), and you will be entered into a drawing for free admission! We will be giving away two spots (with a +1 on each).
As promotion for the event, ASAC will be giving away five copies of Big Zach’s book, before the event. Become a fan of ASAC on Facebook and write on their wall, “I want a copy of Big Zach’s book!”
First off, peace to Dr. King Jr; you, sir, deserve more than a day. So according to No Static, Monday marks the first day of MLK week. And in honor of MLK week, Dylan has recorded a song (featuring a debut verse from Alibaster Jones) that he felt compelled to write due to the spirit of the holiday. Enjoy!
Big Zach teams up The Anchormen on this track, The Essence, to pay homage to those whose lives were taken earlier than expected (Stage One / Quincy). More generally this song is an urgent plea, from the veterans, to return the art form of hip-hip to where it belongs. Read the message below from Zach, describing the story behind the song as well as his thoughts on the TC Hip Hop Awards:
Peace to all on MLK day. I gotta stand firm on everything I put in my book and it in I wrote that I have never showed up the the TCHAwards because I feel some people take it to seriously. I think Depth Versus David is trying to throw an event to bring our sometimes divided community together and I feel that fighting at the event, talking shit over who wins what or who was nominated is not the point. This year they are honoring Quincy “BC” Blue who was an original member of Kanser music We grew up at the same park and I taught him how to count his bars when he was 14. He was murdered this past year. They are also giving a life time achievement to Ryan Djstageone Dillard Sr. Who I believe spiritually is one of the strongest teachers of our hip hop culture. So this year I am publicly supporting the TCHA an I will be strongly ashamed of anyone who brings negativity to the event. Anchormen and myself released a video today that pays homage to Quincy and Stage One -Big Zach(White Jesus)
